OUR APPROACH

Conservation as we know it isn’t succeeding fast enough. That’s why we’ve pioneered a new model that’s creatively disrupting the way the conservation field has operated for decades — one that is succeeding where the field has historically fallen short.

We’re shifting the work of conservation from simply drawing lines on maps or cataloging the demise of species to directing interdisciplinary intelligence, resources, and technology to deploy solutions at scale. We don’t just tackle discrete issues; we completely reimagine economies and re-align incentives towards choices that are good for the planet.

We address Underlying Drivers of extinction

Our approach is unique: we focus on disrupting the underlying drivers of extinction and creatively solve problems where they start, as opposed to alleviating symptoms.

We are systems-focused; we know we must align levers and incentives across complex economic landscapes to see the system-level change we envision.

We facilitate Collaborative Innovation

We believe that diversity improves innovation and that cross-industry intelligence is required to solve problems at this scale, so we design challenges that harvest the genius from the crowd.

From entrepreneurs to designers to engineers to artists, we value every discipline’s contribution to these solutions. We then incubate and accelerate the most transformative ideas into businesses with society-sized impacts. We call this Open Innovation.

We invent REvolutionary Technology

We design and launch our own solutions, in-house, where we have evidence that we can quickly bring to market a disruptive and impactful technology.  We seek to create solutions that match and get ahead of the speed and scale of the extinction and climate crises.

This has resulted in revolutionary, but democratized, tech like the Sentinel, a wildlife monitoring tool powered by AI, and the NABIT, a low-cost, hand-held, field-ready molecular lab  that will transform trafficking enforcement, improve traceability, address emerging pests and pathogens  protecting humans and wildlife. We call this Directed Innovation.

we scale FOR IMPACT

We know a solution won’t have the maximum impact unless it gets to scale. For this reason, all of our work takes into consideration the extent to which a potential solution is scalable for true impact from the beginning.

Our challenges and directed innovation efforts result in businesses and organizations that we continue to support so their growth and impact is maximized.

WE CENTER HUMANITY

We believe humans are at the center of conservation work and that it is appropriate to place them there. Though they are at the heart of the challenges, they are also at the heart of the solutions.

This belief drives us to put the humans that protect nature at the heart of our work, as well as to consider humanity as a critical part of the solutions that we pursue. Humanity (and its impact on the natural world) is a reality with which we must contend and a resource we must harness to drive smarter, better solutions.
