Twenty projects, one goal: ending extinction.
We're proud to announce the finalists for the Con X Tech Prize, our microgrants program to bring revolutionary ideas from blueprint to prototype. From acoustic monitoring to camera traps to frugal engineering, we've selected twenty innovations that have the potential for exponential impact and help end human-induced extinction.
Each team will be receiving $3,500 to develop their idea into a first prototype for the next round of the competition. Then, one grand prize winner will be awarded $20,000 to support the future of their project. Click each project to find out more.

Creating homes for frogs where we can spy them in the field, to help detect invasive chytrid fungi.
Building the largest crowdsourced fish image collection, to teach machines how to identify fish species using AI.
High-tech buoys that tell fishers they are being watched, then catch them if they fish illegally in an MPA or EEZ.
Organizing the lionfish supply chain by connecting recreational divers and local processors.
Detecting the arrival of invasive species in our farms and forests to keep them from eating our food and trees!
Using an app to inform, train and report IT (Illegal Wildlife Traffic) in Colombia through law enforcement and citizen science.
Using accounting software to estimate how much land around the world a company is using.
A commercial camera trap that's built specifically for conservationist, not just to find the biggest antlers.
Using a low cost, automated, android system to stop human-wildlife conflict in rural communities.
Linking blockchain smart contracts to remote sensing algorithms to create more effective Payment for Ecosystem Service schemes.
Using autonomous floating robots to catch sneaky yet dangerous invasive seaweed in the oceans.
An affordable, implantable biologger solution to monitor juvenile elephants re-wilded to new non-native herds.
